What is an adjective?
ئاوەڵناو چییە؟
Adjectives are used to describe or give information about things, ideas and people: nouns or pronouns.
ئاوەڵناو یا هاوەڵناوەکان بەکاردێن بۆ پێناسەکردنی شتەکان، بیرۆکەکان و خەڵکان: ناو یا ڕاناو
For Example:- بۆ نمونە
The grey dog barked. (The adjective grey describes the noun “dog”.)
سەگە خۆڵەمێشیەکە دەوەڕی
ئاوەڵناوەکە ڕەنگەکەیە کە پێناسەی سەگەکە دەکات
The good news is that in English the form of an adjective does not change, once you have learnt it.
باشیەکەی لەوەدایە لە زمانی ئینگلیزیدا شێوازی ئاوەڵناوەکان ناگۆڕدرێن کە لەبەرتکرد
There are different types of adjectives in the English language:
Numeric: six, one hundred and one etc.
Quantitative: more, all, some, half, more than enough etc.
Qualitative: colour, size, smell etc.
Possessive: my, his, their, your etc.
Interrogative: which, whose, what etc.
Demonstrative: this, that, those, these etc.

!Note – The articles a, an, and the are a special kind of adjective called articles, and the possessives my, our, your, and their are sometimes known as possessive adjectives.

Colour ڕەنگ
Adjectives can be used to describe colour.
ئاوەڵناو دەکرێت بەکار بێت بۆ پێناسەکردنی ڕەنگ
blue, red, green, brown, yellow, black, white, etc.
شين، سوور، سەوز، قاوەيى، زەرد، ڕەش، سپى، هتد.
For Example: بۆ نمونە
The blue bag.” or “The blue bags
عەلاگەی شین یا عەلاگە شینەکان
Opinion ڕاوبۆچون
Adjectives can be used to give your opinion about something.
ئاوەڵناو دەکرێت بەکاربێت بۆ ڕا دەربڕین دەربارەی شتێك
good, pretty, right, wrong, funny, light, happy, sad, full, soft, hard etc.
باش، تاڕادەيەك، ڕاستە، هەڵە، قۆشمە، ڕووناكى، دڵخۆش، دڵتەنگ، پڕ، نەرم، سەخت هتد.
For Example: بۆ نمونە
He was a silly boy. / She was a silly girl.
ئەو کوڕێکی لاسار بوو یا ئەو کچێکی لاسار بوو
Size قەبارە
Adjectives can be used to describe size.
ئاوەڵناو دەکرێت بەکاربێت بۆ باسکردنی قەبارە
big, small, little, long, tall, short, same as, etc.
گەورە، بچووك، کەمێك، دوور، درێژ، کورت، بەهەمان چەشن، هتد.
For Example: بۆ نمونە
The big man.” or “The big woman.
پیاوی گەورە یا ئافرەتی گەورە
Age تەمەن
Adjectives can be used to describe age.
ئاوەڵناو دەکرێت بەکاربێت بۆ باکردن لە تەمەن
For Example: بۆ نمونە
He was an old man.” or “She was an old woman.
ئەو پیاوێکی بە تەمەن بوو یا ئەو ئافرەتێکی بە تەمەنە
